Nissan Ariya Electric Compact Crossover In India

Nissan Ariya electric compact crossover from the Japanese automaker, which is sold in global markets, was recently caught on camera in India. The model is likely to be here for evaluation purposes. As of now, the company hasn’t revealed its India launch plan. Though, the carmaker confirmed that it will bring an entry-level electric car by 2025.

In global markets, the Ariya EV is offered with two powertrain options – a single-motor RWD and twin-motor 4WD. There are two battery packs – 63kWh and 87kWh – delivering power worth 217bhp with 300Nm and 242bhp with 300Nm. While the former delivers a claimed range of 402km, the latter promises up to 529km. The higher trims with 87kWh battery pack returns a claimed power of 306bhp with 600Nm of torque and a range of up to 513km.

The battery pack have flat design and integrated cross member in the battery case that allows it to fit in a flat floor and provide structural rigidity. Under the center of the EV, the battery pack is said to ensure “a low centre of gravity and near-equal weight distribution, front and rear. In the rear, the electric crossover has multi-link system and rear electric motor.

In terms of features, the Nissan Ariya electric crossover comes with a 12.3-inch displays integrated on the dashboard serving as both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The unit supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the in-dash navigation. It also gets a built-in voice assistant, a head-up display, SiriusXM’s new audio system, and wireless smartphone charging.

The carmaker has equipped the Ariya EV with ProPilot 2.0 driver assistance technology. The system offers safety features such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert, high beam assist, rear automatic braking, blind spot warning, and adaptive cruise control with a lane centering feature.
